WIEN LEUCHTET
WIEN LEUCHTET
KHM & NHM Vienna (2016 Edition)
For Vienna's unique light festival WIEN LEUCHTET, Austria's most renowned projection artists came together to create a unique projection performance on the "Maria-Theresien-Platz". Together with them, Tim Schmelzer developed the overall artistic and technical concept, which included a 3D video mapping show on the Museum of Art History Museum (KHM), static large scale projections on the Natural History Museum Vienna (NHM), projections on the Triton and Najad fountains as well as floor projections.
For the premiere of the 3D mapping projection on the KHM, Tim Schmelzer chose the poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe "Die Nacht" (spoken by Otto Clemens) and opened the extensive projection staging with his own 5-minute expressive contribution. The Naiad Fountain was covered with a 360° projection and large-format artistic projection collages were presented to visitors on the façade of the NHM.

One of the fountains of Triton and Naiad was chosen by Tim Schmelzer to present the poem "The Sea" by Jules Michelet in the form of the Morse alphabet. The projection was complemented by the acoustic reproduction of the Morse alphabet.

WIEN LEUCHTET (2015 Edition)
An artistic contribution for the light projections on the NHM
At the first WIEN LEUCHTET light festival in 2015, Tim Schmelzer contributed to the projection design of the Natural History Museum Vienna (NHM) which was staged as part of the festival.
Inspired by the scientific collection of Ernst Haeckel and other fascinating collections of the museum, various projection subjects were designed and presented to the visitors alternately on the 120m long facade. These collages were specially developed for the analogue projection process on 18cm x 18cm image plates and projected onto the façade using several high-performance analogue Pani slide projectors.
